Kris Otteman, DVM, ABVP, CAWA

Dr. Otteman has over 35 years of experience in veterinary operations & clinical practice including rural southern Oregon mixed animal practice ownership, founding team of Banfield the Pet Hospitals and most recently, 15 years leading medical operations and humane investigations within a large progressive shelter and in leading the in shelter veterinary teaching program for Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Otteman served on the founding committee for creating board certification for Shelter Medicine Practice Certification with ABVP, is a charter member of the International Veterinary Forensic Science Association and currently serves as president elect.  She also serves on the Association of Prosecuting Attorney’s Animal Cruelty Advisory Committee and consults for Animal Legal Defense Fund on animal cruelty investigation cases nationally. She has contributed to hundreds of animal cruelty investigations and is passionate about the importance of veterinary contributions to this work and is a tireless advocate for the veterinary profession.
